Students from partner institutions

This section concerns international students selected by their home institutions to come to Inalco under a partnership agreement.

International students should first contact their university's office of international affairs and check the list of current partnerships.

For further information on administrative procedures and accommodation, refer to the guide for foreign students.

Conditions:
  1. You must ensure that a partnership exists between your home university and Inalco.
  2. You must be officially nominated by your university's international affairs office, which will send us your application
  3. Once your application has been received, the admissions letters will be sent to you as soon as possible

Foreign students not concerned by partnerships

If you would like to come to Inalco on your own initiative rather than through an exchange program, this section offers some information to help you with your administrative enrollment.
 
If you would like to study at Inalco for a French bachelor's or master's degree or an Inalco introductory diploma, the procedure to follow depends on whether you have been enrolled at a higher education institution in France before or not.

Enrollment for foreign students with foreign diplomas who have never studied at a higher education institution in France
  • First year of a bachelor's program (students from outside the EU)
    If you completed secondary school abroad and wish to enroll for the first time at a French university for your first undergraduate year, you must complete a preliminary admissions application (demande d’admission préalable or DAP) prior to enrollment.
    If you live in France, you need to download the application form (please read the instructions before completing it) and return or send it by registered mail by January 22 to INALCO, Bureau 3.39, 65 rue des Grands Moulins, Paris 75013).  If you live abroad, you need to download the application form (please read the instructions before completing it) and submit it by January 22 at the latest to the Cultural Services Department of the French Embassy in your country of residence.

    A national French test (TCF DAP) will be held on February 8, 2016 at Inalco. It is held at the same time in French universities and at the Campus France spaces abroad for candidates who will not yet be in France. Level B2 on the French test (TCF-DAP) is required. If you hold a DELF B2 or DALF C1 or C2, you are not required to sit the TCF-DAP.
     
  • Second or third year of a bachelor's program (students from outside the EU)
    Candidates wishing to enroll directly in the second or third year of a bachelor's program must hold a first degree or have successfully completed at least one or two years of post-secondary study in the target language.
    Email the foreign students officer, Jean-Philippe Thammabouth (jean-philippe.thammabouth@inalco.fr) between April 1 and June 30 to request the admissions application form. You will need to provide certification of at least a B2 level in French (TCF, TEF, DELF, DALF, etc.). If you have not yet sat one of these French tests, you may contact the CIEP to arrange to do so (www.ciep.fr/tcf/). 
     
  • Special Japanese program (preparatory year for entry into third year of a bachelor's in Japanese)
    Japanese candidates wanting to enroll in their native language must have completed at least three years of higher education in France and/or abroad.
    Email the foreign students officer, Jean-Philippe Thammabouth (jean-philippe.thammabouth@inalco.fr) between April 1 and June 30 to request the admissions application form. You will need to provide certification of at least a B2 level in French (TCF, TEF, DELF, DALF, etc.). If you have not yet sat one of these French tests, you may contact the CIEP to arrange to do so (www.ciep.fr/tcf/).
     
  • Second or third year of a bachelor's program (students from the EU)
    To enroll in an introductory diploma course, you must have a school leaving qualification (equivalent to the baccalauréat). To apply for the second or third year of a bachelor's program, you must hold a first degree or have successfully completed at least one or two years of higher education in the target language.
    Email the foreign students officer, Jean-Philippe Thammabouth (jean-philippe.thammabouth@inalco.fr) between April 1 and June 30 to request the admissions application form. You will need to provide certification of at least a B2 level in French (TCF, TEF, DELF, DALF, etc.). If you have not yet sat one of these French tests, you may contact the CIEP to arrange to do so (www.ciep.fr/tcf/).
     
  • Master's programs 
    Students wishing to enroll in a master's program may be required to take a placement test in their target specialist language. To find out, please contact the program secretary (see the conditions in the brochure for the chosen language). You must have a C1 level on the French test (B2 may be tolerated in some instances). Enrollment for foreign students with foreign qualifications who have studied at a higher education institution in France before 

  • First year of a bachelor's program or introductory diploma
If you completed secondary school abroad but have already been enrolled at a French university (not including French language classes or on a university exchange) and you wish to enroll for the first year of a Bachelor's program or introductory diploma, download the application form from the Inalco website in July or September (the final dates will be available on the Inalco website at the end of June). You will need to provide your foreign school leaving qualification and proof of your previous enrollment in a French university (enrollment certificate, transcript, or degree/diploma). 
  • Second or third year of a bachelor's program
Candidates wishing to enroll directly in the second or third year of a bachelor's program must hold a first degree or have successfully completed at least one or two years of higher education in the target language.
