Le colloque entend dresser un bilan des relations UE-Japon dans le contexte de la mise en oeuvre depuis février 2019 d'un accord pour un partenariat économique et d'un accord stratégique entre eux. Ces accords incarnent une vision libérale des relations internationales alors que le président américain Donald Trump adopte des postures protectionnistes. Par-delà l'étude des liens entre Union européenne et Japon, le colloque fera le point des évolutions économiques, politiques et sociales du Japon où les élections à la Chambre des conseillers, en juillet, amèneront une évaluation de la politique de M. Abe.
