Scientific advisory board

The Scientific Advisory Board proposes research policy guidelines to the Board of Directors. In particular, it is consulted on the titles to be given to teaching-research posts, on the establishment contract, and on applications for accreditation. It ensures liaison between teaching and research.

Presentation

The Scientific Advisory Board is chaired by the Institute's President and Scientific Vice-President. In addition to the President and the Director of Bulac, it comprises a maximum of 40 members, including 6 students enrolled in a postgraduate course.

As an advisory body, the Scientific Council proposes to the Board of Directors - in application of the texts in force (article 20 of the decree of May 14, 1990) - the orientations of research policies, scientific and technical documentation and the distribution of research credits.

It approves the creation of research units, defines their standard status and organizes the evaluation of scientific activity. It facilitates links between teaching and research, particularly in the 3rd cycle. It is consulted on the reallocation of vacant teaching-research posts and on the creation of professorial posts.

Within the framework of the texts in force, it gives its opinion:

  • on contracts or agreements to be entered into by the President when such contracts concern research activities or their valorization;
  • on research programs;
  • on the possibility of preparing theses or works jointly with other establishments;
  •
  • applications for accreditation to award national diplomas and proposed deletions;
  • proposals for the creation of specific diplomas;
  • establishment contract;
  • recruitment of contract teaching staff and lecturers;
  • requests for reclassification.

Within the framework of current texts (Arrêté du 25 mai 2016 fixant le cadre national de la formation et les modalités conduisant à la délivrance du diplôme national de doctorat), it is informed each year:

  • of the list of beneficiaries of doctoral contracts and other types of funding;
  • of the list of derogation beneficiaries (registration in 4th year and above).

In a formation restricted to persons authorized to direct research, it proposes:

  • registrations for the habilitation to direct research;
  • leaves of absence for research and thematic conversions requested by teacher-researchers;
  • professors for emeritus status.
