EPHE, INALCO, EHESS joint seminar: "Introduction to the history and historiography of Jewish worlds".

Organized in partnership with EPHE-PSL (master CCS, Histoire et culture des Juifs et du judaïsme : sources et patrimoine and master SRS, Histoire et historiographie des mondes juifs) and INALCO (master LLCER, Études hébraïques et juives), this introductory course in the history of the Jews, aimed primarily at master's students, presents the cultural, political and social processes that led to the constitution and maintenance of Jewish groups in their diversity and environments over the long term, from Antiquity to the present day, while opening up to particular fields of history. It pays particular attention to the main currents that have run through them, and includes a historiographical and methodological approach to several temporal and geographical areas: the Orient, Northern and Eastern Europe, the Maghreb and the Middle East. Specialists in each geographical area, historical period or current of thought will offer summaries of current research issues, including methodology.
