"Confucianism is above all a culture of the self. It teaches us to make our hearts big. It is this thinking heart, in its empty and unencumbered state, that connects us to the world." Professor Frédéric Wang, University Professor of the History of Chinese Thought at Inalco and organizer of the Confucianism lecture series "Confucianism in the Context of Globalization" 2021-2022.

Contenu central

What are the new challenges facing Confucianism in the context of globalization? How is it practiced in present-day China and elsewhere? To what extent are new approaches useful in tackling it? These are the main questions that the series of lectures on Confucianism, organized by the Inalco Foundation in partnership with UMR IFRAE and funded by the Eurasia Foundation (from Asia), aims to answer.

This series of fourteen lectures on Confucianism is organized by Professor Frédéric Wang, University Professor of the History of Chinese Thought at Inalco. Assured by specialists working in interdisciplinary perspectives on the various aspects of Confucianism, the lectures are open to the public and in particular to students and researchers working on the history of thought and religions in East Asia.

The lectures will be held face-to-face from 6pm to 8pm and/or as a hybrid from 2pm to 3:30pm
Location: Amphithéâtre Georges Dumézil - Maison de la Recherche
Inalco, 2 rue de Lille, 75007
