The lecture

The lecture will be on the topic "Power relations and violence instances in Israeli feminism" and will be in English.

"When do women decide to rebel, to act out of resistance?" is a question that has constantly accompanied Professor Henriette Dahan Kalev's scholarly reflection and personal activism. From this perspective, she explores in depth the transition between the personal and the political in Israeli feminism, which she defines in her recent book An Anatomy of Feminist Resistance (2019) as the moment when "the person experiences a shift in consciousness". On this occasion, Professor Dahan Kalev will return to the multifaceted experience of Israeli feminism to discuss power relations and instances of violence. Using a socio-historical approach to contextualize the Israeli experience, she will problematize how power dynamics and the various forms of violence specific to them have been able to shape the path of the different voices of Israeli feminism.

The conference will be held on Monday, December 12, 2022 from 6:00 pm at Inalco in the auditorium at 65 rue des Grands Moulins (Paris, 75013) and will also be zoomed in.

Participation in this conference is by registration, subject to availability.
