Jean-Jacques Thibon is a university professor, attached to the Centre de Recherches Moyen-Orient Méditerranée - CERMOM (Inalco). In this interview, he describes his research themes, Islamology, Sufism and hagiographic literature.

He helped create the French Institute of Islamology (IFI) and is also behind the creation of the Diplôme de civilisation d'islamologie à distance (Inalco - Aix-Marseille - Université de Strasbourg - Sorbonne Université) and a member of the diploma's teaching team.

In addition, with Francesco Chiabotti (Inalco) and Hocine Benkheira (EPHE), he coordinates a doctoral seminar in Islamology entitled "Islam: plural approaches", which each year proposes a new theme for study and enables doctoral students and established teacher-researchers to discuss their research themes and present current directions in research in Islamology.
