Validation of acquired experience (VAE)

Any person, regardless of age, nationality, status or level of training, who can provide proof of at least 1 year's experience directly related to the targeted certification, can apply for VAE.

The candidate must complete a file detailing his/her professional experience and acquired skills. The candidate is then interviewed by a jury, which decides whether to validate all or part of the diploma, title or certification concerned. In the event of partial validation of acquired skills, prescriptions are offered to the candidate with a view to obtaining the full diploma.

VAE is not:

• An automatic conversion of experience into certification;
• A training course

VAE is distinct from :

• VAP 1985 - Validation des Acquis Professionnels : a system that enables students to enroll in a Higher Education course without having the required diploma
• VES - Validation des Etudes Supérieures : system enabling students to obtain all or part of a Higher Education diploma thanks to diplomas already obtained in training or abroad, provided they are fully validated

• Validate your experience for yourself
• Get your skills recognized
• Obtain a level of qualification that will enable you to access higher-level training level or to enter a competitive examination
• Change jobs
• Professional development/Get a raise or professional promotion
• Develop self-confidence

The whole process takes around 8 to 10 months.

The certification obtained through VAE has the same value as that obtained through training.
Entering the VAE process is more than just a formality, it requires real
involvement and motivation to rise to the challenge.

1. Defining the project and obtaining information
2. Preparing for validation
3. Accreditation stage (submission of booklet 1)
4. Accreditation or refusal
5. Drafting the complete file after accreditation has been granted. (livret 2)
6. Preparation for the presentation to the jury
7. Final assessment before a jury
8. Post-jury follow-up in the event of partial validation

VAE is above all a procedure for verification, assessment and certification of the candidate's skills by a jury. It therefore requires the production of a genuine description of the skills acquired in relation to the title, diploma or certificate of qualification applied for.

The candidate must complete a full dossier (livret 2) detailing his or her professional experience and skills acquired. They then appear before a jury, which decides whether to validate all or part of the diploma in question. In the event of partial validation of skills acquired, the candidate is offered prescriptions with a view to obtaining the full diploma.

Some examples of diploma validation through VAE:

• the Master "Translation option "Bosnian, Croatian and Serbian" with "Bien" honors to a candidate with a DEUG in psychology, wishing to validate her experience as a translator interpreter for over 15 years for international organizations.
• the Licence de Japon - mention Français Langue Etrangère - to a candidate who has been teaching French in Japan for several years.
• the Master MEEF "arabe" to a candidate with 6 years experience in collège and lycée
• the Licence de Chinois to a candidate who has validated HSK 6 and worked in China for nearly 10 years
• ...

Pre-formatted dossiers (booklets 1 and 2) can be requested throughout the year from Anne Gehant in office 2.10.
All booklets/files will be in electronic form (PDF).

SESSION 2023

Admissibility stage
Filing of booklets 1 by December 1, 2022 at the latest.
You will be notified of an agreement or refusal by January 15, 2023 at the latest.

Submission of complete file (livret 2) : April 15, 2023.

Jury: late May/early June 2023.

Accceptability stage: 150 euros
+
Company fee with support included : 1400 euros
Self-financing without support : 600 euros
Self-financing with support: between 700 and 1400 euros (depending on the packages chosen)
