Teaching

Perfectly versed in Arabic, the recruited teacher must have an excellent command of literal Arabic and a very good knowledge of one or more varieties of dialectal Arabic. He/she should also have a general theoretical approach to translation, a solid understanding of the issues involved in translation from and into Arabic in today's world, and significant teaching experience.

He or she will teach language and translation courses from the introductory year to the Master's degree. He or she will supervise research work at master's level.

At Master's level, he/she will teach specialized translation and supervise students wishing to work on translation issues, training them to translate from and into Arabic.

Fully involved in the life of the department, he/she will participate in the coordination of teaching in liaison with the various teaching teams of the "Arab Studies" department, and will take part in the preparation of programs, the elaboration, follow-up and improvement of mock-ups.

He or she will also be involved in the creation of digital teaching resources and distance learning (teaching materials and documents in the context of ICTE; hybridization of training in classical or modern Arabic language and literature; etc.).).

The candidate will be expected to be involved in the life and running of the department, to reflect on the development of training courses, and to supervise students.

Research

Based on his/her specialties, the recruited teacher-researcher will be able to join an Inalco team of his/her choice, including:

The recruited colleague will be expected to work within the research axes:

  • of the CERMOM (Centre de recherches Moyen-Orient Méditerranée) host team: axe 4.1 didactics and digital pedagogy (Mooc, platforms and tools) and axis 1.1 (translations, transfers and adaptations),

  • or in the PLIDAM host team (Pluralité des Langues et des Identités : Didactique, Acquisition, Médiations): axe 3 (lexique et traduction : quelle didactique ?), which requires proven pedagogical experience and reflection on the challenges of specialized translation in teaching Arabic to a French-speaking audience.

He/she will be actively involved in national and international research networks, building on the links already forged with universities and research centers in the Arab world. The person recruited will also strengthen the research supervision offer, through active participation in Master's and PhD training, contributing to the theoretical and methodological deepening of research in specialized translation.

  • The recruited MCF will be able to join the host team EA 4514 PLIDAM currently organized around 6 axes: Axis 1) Language policies, plurilingualism and representations; Axis 2) Language competence: construction and evaluation; Axis 3) Lexics and translation: which didactics?; Axis 4) Literature and culture in language didactics; Axis 5) Designing pedagogical tools from a plurilingual perspective and Axis 6) SemioMed - Semiotics, multimedia corpora and uses.
    The PLIDAM laboratory is building cooperative projects with numerous French and foreign research teams, particularly in the field of foreign language, literature and culture pedagogy. In this context, the teaching of translation is of great interest to our work.
    The recruited MCF will be invited to contribute to the research carried out within Axis 3, and to get involved in the laboratory's collective work, which requires proven pedagogical experience and reflection on the challenges of specialized translation in teaching Arabic to a French-speaking audience.
