The medal and diploma were presented to her by Professor Guéorgui Valtchev, Rector of the University. Professor Amelia Litcheva, Dean of the Faculty of Slavic Studies who nominated her, emphasized that, for her, "it is a particularly moving day, because the title of honorary doctor is awarded to someone who has deserved not only Sofia University, as is usually the case. Marie Vrinat has deserved Bulgarian literature and Bulgaria as a whole. "

This title is therefore awarded to her both for her academic work in the fields of the history of Bulgarian literature and the history of translation in Bulgaria, for her teaching at Sofia University and for her translations of classic and contemporary Bulgarian authors. At the ceremony, she delivered a speech entitled: "How to think / make (of) Bulgarian literature a literature of - and in - the world?"
