Teaching

Perfectly versed in Arabic, the recruited teacher will teach language courses and courses in ancient or modern literature (depending on his/her specialty) from the introductory year to the Master's degree. He or she will supervise research work at Master's level. He or she may also take part in preparatory courses for competitive teaching exams.

Fully involved in the life of the department, he or she will participate in the coordination of teaching in liaison with the various teaching teams in the "Arab Studies" department, and will take part in the preparation of programs, the elaboration, follow-up and improvement of mock-ups.

He or she will also be involved in the creation of digital teaching resources and the distance delivery of teaching (teaching materials and documents within the framework of ICTE; hybridization of training in classical or modern Arabic language and literature; etc.

The candidate may be entrusted with the coordination of the Arabic MEEF master's degree. He or she will need to demonstrate in-depth reflection on the didactics of the Arabic language on the one hand, and that of Arabic literature (ancient or modern depending on his or her specialty) and the tools of literary analysis on the other. Solid experience in teaching Arabic as a foreign language in higher education is particularly desirable. Experience in secondary education will be appreciated.

The candidate will also be expected to contribute to the development of pedagogical tools, possibly digital. Competence in ICTE is desirable.

He/she will be able, depending on his/her specialist discipline, to provide part of his/her service in cross-disciplinary teaching in the department (literature, linguistics, humanities) or in cross-disciplinary teaching at the bachelor's and master's levels of INALCO.

He/she will be likely to provide teaching in English.

It will be expected of the candidate.e will be expected to invest in the life and operation of the department, to reflect on the development of training courses, and to supervise students.

Depending on his/her specialties, the teacher-researcher recruited may join an Inalco team of his/her choice, including:

The person recruited as an MCF will be expected to focus his or her research on issues related to classical (adab and poetry), medieval (storytelling and narrative traditions) or modern literature, in connection with the axes of the CERMOM (Centre de Recherches Moyen-Orient Méditerranée, EA 4091) so as to fit in with the center's collective research dynamics. He or she will demonstrate an ability to conduct innovative research, focusing on genres, texts, their transformations and literariness, or certain major aspects of Arab literature in the premodern, modern or contemporary periods. He or she will be able to contribute to the strengthening of research work in classical, medieval or modern Arabic language and literature through, in particular:

-the organization of and participation in seminars, colloquia and study days;
- the setting up and funding of projects;
- the contribution to collective publications or international scientific events;
- participation in the organization and management of cooperation programs with other foreign research institutions.

Depending on his or her specialties, the recruited professor may also join another Inalco team of his or her choice.
