Experimentarium: an introduction to science communication
A practical training course in mediation
The programme is divided into two parts :
- training supervised by scientific and cultural mediators, to practise oral expression, share questions and methods, reflect on one’s approach and develop a workshop accessible to non-specialists;
- meetings with the public, in a 20-minute formatminutes around a table, with small groups of up to eight people, most often secondary school pupils, but also adults, older people or families.
A diverse range of audiences, a variety of formats
The sessions can take place in schools, community organisations, media centres or care homes, notably in partnership with the 13th arrondissement council and as part of the Cordées de la réussite.
In addition to the traditional format, several initiatives have been trialled:
- speed searching: quick meetings lasting 5 to 10 minutes;
- spontaneous meetings in public or cultural venues;
- exchanges between researchers and visitors whilst viewing the artworks, in partnership with the Musée d’Art moderne de Paris.
PhD students from Inalco took part, in particular, in the European Heritage Days and in a meeting held as part of the Brion Gysin. Le dernier musée exhibition at the Musée d’Art moderne de Paris and at the Expérimentarium festival in 2025 in Besançon and in 2026 in Dijon.
