Science and society
In the wake of the SAPS (Science Avec et Pour la Société) label awarded by the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research, since 2023 Inalco has been promoting dialogue with society in the broadest sense (the general public, schoolchildren, local players, etc.), beyond those involved in research, and is committed to a dynamic of transmitting and disseminating knowledge.
In this respect, Inalco has set up various actions that can take the form of training courses, events, supports and other devices, open to all. Here are a few examples that have been completed or are underway:
- Training through the seminar open to all "Ouvrir la recherche en études aréales: acteurs, données et médiations" and the MOOC "Pour une science partagée en études aréales" accessible on the FUN MOOC platform
- deployment of the Experimentarium device at Inalco to encourage meetings between PhD students and the general public
- organization of events for the general public to raise awareness of research issues: Journées du patrimoine culturel immatériel, Regards Comparés, Assises de la recherche, ...
- Producing a expert brochure to enable the media and journalists to quickly find a teacher-researcher based on his or her area of expertise
Many other projects are in the pipeline with Inalco's research community and local stakeholders.
At national level, Inalco is part of the VP Science and Society network of universities and the Art + University + Culture (A+U+C) network.
