Research and doctoral studies department

The Direction de la Recherche et des Etudes Doctorales (DRED), part of the Direction de la Recherche, de la Valorisation et des Etudes Doctorales (Dirved), is responsible for the administration and management of Inalco's scientific policy.

As the main contact for the 14 research teams (UR), she is in contact with several departments and bodies within the establishment and with external structures, notably the MESR, the CNRS, other research organizations and Ministries, the HCERES, local authorities and other players in the socio-economic world.

Interface between research units, the doctoral school and doctoral students, it is involved in research training, research and research promotion issues.

Main missions

  1. Assure the administrative organization of the Scientific Council (SC) and Research Commission; organize debates and implement decisions voted by these bodies

  1. Managing scientific affairs

  • implement the establishment contract
  • .

  • prepare and monitor the five-year research contract
  • .

  • coordinate and monitor scientific dossiers for research units and the doctoral school
  • coordinate and manage evaluations
  • contribute to drawing up, managing and executing Inalco's research budget
  • assure the distribution and monitoring of resources voted by the SC within the URs
  • ensure the distribution and follow-up of calls for bids by the SC: scientific projects presented within this framework
  • translate Inalco's scientific policy into administrative management and establish decision-making and steering tools
  • .

  • contribute to the implementation of DRED activity monitoring dashboards
  • .

  • manage doctoral contracts, scholarships and chancellery awards
  1. Coordinate files in relation to the human resources department

    .

  • advice on the recruitment of teacher-researchers and ATERs, promotions, transfers, modulations of services, visiting professors, CRCT, PES, requests for delegation to the CNRS
  • .

  1. Ensuring research communication

  • update the DRED internet and intranet site
  • manage and disseminate research-related information: promote research in close collaboration with Inalco's communications department
  • organize events (welcome day for new academics, PhD students, best thesis award ceremony, ...)
  1. Organizing the 3rd cycle: doctorate (D) and habilitation to direct research (HDR)

  • accompany doctoral students throughout their training, from registration to thesis defense.
  • organize thesis and HDR defenses, award doctoral and HDR diplomas
  • .

  • ensure the coordination of the Doctoral School
  • .

  • implement doctoral training
  • monitor and evaluate doctoral studies policy
  • develop and manage the Doctoral School's budget
  • establish international thesis cotutelles
  • seek funding
