Research, Development and Doctoral Studies Department (DIRVED)

The Direction de la Recherche, de la Valorisation et des Etudes Doctorales (DIRVED) is the gateway to everything to do with research at Inalco. It brings together all the professions and new activities linked to scientific research: research management, doctoral school, management of research units, research projects, publications, development.

She organizes the research activities of the units and harmonizes their administrative management, the training of their PhD students, the valorization of their research results, and the contractualization and cooperation between the establishment's research units and the various French, foreign or international research organizations.

She is responsible for setting up and monitoring contractual research activities as well as the valorization of results and technology transfer.

She is responsible for:

  • regular monitoring of calls for projects;
  • searching for funding and targeted partners;
  • assembling and managing administrative and financial dossiers;
  • assisting with proofreading and advising on the drafting of scientific projects;
  • proposing appropriate support measures for project setup*;
  • raising awareness through information and training meetings.

But also:

  • negotiating and managing public-private and public-public partnerships;
  • organizing Inalco's scientific expertise;
  • advising on data protection and intellectual property;
  • managing Inalco's intangible scientific heritage;
  • disseminating research activities and
  • participating in the development of research strategy.

* The financial facilities for project set-up and management are available to Inalco project leaders and/or future project leaders.

They cover:

  • travel for project set-up
  • translation/proofreading of projects being set up from French into English
  • teaching discharge for ANR project leaders (39h / year eq.TD)
  • un séjour UMIFRE dans le cadre de l'appel à projets de recherche Inalco-CNRS-MAEE

Other financial assistance for European project set-up is offered as part of the Pack Europe Access, a scheme set up by the University of Paris' Réseau Recherche Europe; a network made up of the institutions' Europe correspondents. Training modules are also available to all University of Paris researchers/teaching-researchers wishing to respond to European project calls under the Horizon Europe program.

The department of research, de la valorisation et des études doctorales (DIRVED) has supported the Fondation Inalco since its creation, and leads the Réseau Inalco Alumni in conjunction with the association des anciens élèves et amis des langues orientales (AAÉALO).

La Dirved is also the Presses de l'Inalco and the Réseau Inalco alumni.

Finally, Itinéraire(s), the research and international letter, evokes the school's journey and field of specialization in world languages and civilizations, but also the school's singular itinerary. The Itinéraire(s) newsletter aims to showcase the diversity and dynamism of research at Inalco.
