Frédéric Wang — Confucianism in the Context of Globalization (2021–2022)
What does Confucianism mean in today’s globalized world?
How is it practiced in China and beyond? What new lenses can help us better understand it?
These questions are at the heart of a lecture series on Confucianism, launched by the Inalco Foundation in partnership with UMR IFRAE and funded by the Eurasia Foundation (from Asia). Delivered by experts across disciplines, the series explores Confucianism’s evolving role in East Asian thought and religion. It is open to the public and especially relevant for students and researchers in philosophy, history, and religious studies.
Led by Professor Frédéric Wang, the series comprises 14 lectures and took place at the Maison de la Recherche – Inalco from September 2021 to May 2022.
Zhe Ji — Inalco–Sheng Yen Professorial Chair
The Inalco–Sheng Yen Professorial Chair, established by the Sheng Yen Education Foundation (Taiwan) in collaboration with the Inalco Foundation, supports advanced teaching and research on Buddhism in modern and contemporary Chinese society.
The Chair enables Professor Zhe Ji, University Professor at Inalco, to carry out high-level research on how Buddhism continues to shape and evolve within Chinese culture — a tradition that has influenced society for over two millennia.
