Matéi Visniec: a work between two languages
Meeting with Matéi Visniec, playwright, novelist and poet born in Romania in 1956. Exiled to France in 1987, he has made the French language his second home and theater a space of freedom where tragedy, comedy and the absurd mingle. But alongside his career as a playwright, he continued to write in Romanian, notably novels, and also self-translated in both directions. Welcoming him to Inalco, where some 100 languages are studied, including Romanian, will be an opportunity to explore with him the many facets of his work in the light of this bilingualism and his dual culture, which have long nourished Romanian literature.
Animation: Cristina Hermeziu, writer and journalist, and Cécile Folschweiller, lecturer in Romanian language, literature and civilization at Inalco.
In partnership with the Festival Un Weekend à l'Est.
