Pratiquer une discipline sensible sur un terrain mouvant: Les politologues russes et la politique en Russie contemporaine
Organised by the Europe-Eurasia WP of the DECRIPT programme, this event is a discussion with Vladimir Gelman, Professor of Political Science at the University of Helsinki, on his career, his research and his experience as both a participant in and observer of developments in the Russian social sciences. The aim is to understand how, following the establishment of numerous political science departments and faculties in the Russian Federation in the 1990s, Vladimir Putin’s presidency has profoundly altered the subjects, methods and challenges of an emerging social science discipline. The event will in particular examine the production, dissemination and reception of the social sciences in the context of the war in Ukraine and the academic struggles that accompany them to preserve and defend the autonomy of science in Russia vis-à-vis political power.
Guest: Vladimir Gelman (University of Helsinki)
Chair: Pierre-Louis Six (ENS-PSL/Inalco)
The discussion will take place in English at the Inter-University Centre for the Humanities and can also be followed online.
