The book on which the conference is based brings together papers from a symposium held in Mostaganem on 27 and 28 April 2024, devoted to contemporary issues in foreign language teaching and learning. The studies included examine language teaching methodology in relation to linguistic models, whilst taking into account the social, historical, political and institutional dimensions that shape teaching and learning practices.

In a context characterised by hypermobility, linguistic and cultural diversity, and the expansion of digital environments, the authors analyse the transformations taking place in learning spaces, which are now situated at the intersection of the classroom, online networks and multiple socio-cultural contexts. The book also examines the emergence of new teaching tools, notably machine translation and artificial intelligence, and the questions they raise regarding the skills expected of learners, teachers and researchers.

Adopting a comparative and translinguistic perspective, the contributions highlight the common dynamics and local specificities of language teaching and learning situations, thereby contributing to an interdisciplinary reflection on contemporary pedagogical practices and language policies.
