Screening-debate "Hawa's life" by Najiba Noori
The life of Hawa by Najiba Noori
VOSTFR, 84 minutes
The life of Hawa traces the journey of three generations of Hazara women in Afghanistan.
Forced into marriage as a child, Hawa, the mother, a strong, solar woman, learns to read and write at over fifty, supported by her daughter and granddaughter. But the return of the Taliban will upset their hopes of emancipation and the trajectory of their lives.
Shot over a period of five years by Hawa's daughter, this sensitive film that tells, through the medium of intimacy, the condition of women in Afghanistan is also a groundbreaking, real-time testimony to the Taliban's rise to power and its tragic consequences, experienced from the inside, by a trio of women and millions of others.
Discussion after the screening, moderated by Belgheis Jafari (Inalco), with Najiba Noori (director), Nanou Rousseau (founder of Mères pour la Paix) and the testimony of Afghan women students.
