In Hino (Tokyo metropolis), building 73 of the Takahatadai residence, managed by the Urban Renaissance Agency (UR), is suddenly destined for demolition due to insufficient seismic resistance, while reinforcement work had been announced. Destabilized by this turnaround, the inhabitants seek to understand: they ask for explanations, but face the opacity of decisions and censorship of information. The UR agency had previously assumed an important social function in a Japan where public housing remains underdeveloped. While the latter implements a policy of expulsion, the film follows the residents in their questions, their resistance and their daily lives.

Between investigation and immersion, the director HAYAKAWA Yumiko shows the hopes and worries of those for whom this building is much more than just a home. She thus questions the future of public housing in Japan in this atypical documentary dedicated to what it really means to "live".

The screening will be followed by a discussion with the director.
