Screening of "Le Sourire et la Conscience", a documentary by Serge Bourguignon, in the presence of the director.
On the occasion of His Holiness the Dalai Lama's visit to France in 1993, filmmaker Serge Bourguignon - who won an Oscar for Les Dimanches de Ville-d'Avray - accompanied him on his journey across the country.
His film traces the highlights of this journey, including the Dalai Lama's reception at Grenoble's Joseph Fourier University, during a symposium bringing together scientists from a variety of disciplines (oncology, astrophysics) around the theme Science, Nature and Consciousness.
Bourguignon's camera, discreet and imbued with sensitivity, alternates intimate and public scenes: an excursion into the mountains near Chambéry, exchanges with Christian monks, a moment of conversation at breakfast between the Dalai Lama and the director.
Serge Bourguignon will be present at this unique screening.
At the end of the evening, Jigme Choyang will perform a song, accompanied by Tibetan mandolin (ྲརྡུང་ལེན།)
