Meet Ana Blandiana, co-founder of Le Mémorial, followed by a book signing.
Countering the occultation of communism in Romania in the 1990s, initiatives from civil society led to the creation of the Memorial to the Victims of Communism and the Resistance. Inaugurated in 1997 within the walls of the former Sighet prison, and led by Ana Blandiana and Romulus Rusan, the Memorial has become a "place of memory", of transmission and reflection on the Communist past.
