Words from Taiwan: emergence, mediation, interpretation
This international colloquium will look at developments in Taiwan, its society, literature, religions, languages and links with the world, as well as its future prospects in a complex geopolitical environment, without losing sight of how Taiwan fits into the field of research in France.
- How can we describe and summarize Taiwan's uniqueness and characteristics?
- What concepts have shaped the island's mutations, modernity, identity and collective memory?
- How has Taiwan been able to weave networks with France and the world?
- How can we refine and renew our understanding of Taiwan?
The word is a privileged place for the penetration of cultural content. Some words, more than others, seem to embody the way of thinking, the ideals of the speakers of a language and carry with them a strong charge of collective unconsciousness.
In this spirit, this colloquium will question the words that best encapsulate Taiwan, in order to encourage the sharing of varied scientific experiences and spark reflection around our university training in the field of Taiwanese studies.
