BIP - Lives Between Shores
This Blended Intensive Programme offers Inalco students the opportunity to deepen their understanding of migration dynamics in the Mediterranean through an interdisciplinary approach, drawing on anthropology, history, law, geography and media studies. Participants will complete an online introductory component, before attending a week of intensive lectures and workshops at Inalco in Paris, from 8 to 12 June 2026.
A week to explore migration dynamics and rethink mobility
This Blended Intensive Programme aims to provide participants with the analytical tools needed to understand migration dynamics in the Mediterranean and contemporary issues relating to mobility, borders and asylum. Through an interdisciplinary approach, it explores circulation, immobility and migratory experiences across the two shores of the Mediterranean, drawing on perspectives from anthropology, history, law, geography and media studies.
The programme will also examine the political, social, legal and cultural dimensions of contemporary migration, particularly through the study of asylum policies, critical mapping practices, postcolonial mobilities and forms of Mediterranean connectivity. Participants will take part in academic seminars, practical workshops and cultural activities designed to analyse concrete case studies, develop critical thinking skills and deepen their understanding of the lived realities of mobility and borders. Cultural visits and an ethnographic walk will complement the teaching, offering a perspective that is at once academic, reflective and immersive.
Open to students with an interest in migration, Mediterranean studies, international relations, the social sciences, law, geography or mobility issues, this programme is intended for advanced undergraduate, master’s and doctoral students. Teaching will be delivered by academic staff and specialist lecturers, notably from our EUniWell partner universities.
