The "Regards de la jeune génération sur les mémoires franco-algériennes" group has been meeting since June 2021 to reflect on the implementation of the recommendations of the report Les questions mémorielles portant sur la colonisation et la guerre d'Algérie (January 2021) submitted by Benjamin Stora to the President of the Republic on the appeasement of Franco-Algerian memories.

The aim is to propose concrete actions to be carried out by and for young people. Having delivered messages to the President of the Republic, the group wishes to broaden the reflection by meeting other young people sharing the same objectives. To this end, it is launching a series of public meetings, the aim of which is to exchange to enrich points of view and work collectively to implement projects.

Program:

  • First time: presentation of the group, its objectives, reminder of the context of the Stora report and the content of the messages.
  • Second time: focus on the question of testimonies. Laetitia Bucaille, professor of political sociology (Inalco, CESSMA) and member of the Memory and Truth Commission (set up to monitor implementation of the Stora report's recommendations), will present the commission's thinking on this subject.
  • Third time: looking to the future, presentation of the "Institut de la France et de l'Algérie" project and how young people should be involved. At the end of each time, you can ask questions, suggest new avenues or participations.
