A collective dynamic serving a shared vision
Three days of debates, sharing of experiences and cross-views highlighted the richness, diversity and vitality of research conducted at Inalco. Through languages, societies, fields and research objects, the Assises underlined the importance of our institutional specificity: that of an establishment committed to knowledge of worlds that are often not very visible, with approaches resolutely rooted in interdisciplinarity and comparatism.
Languages and societies: structuring axes
The exchanges revealed the extent to which languages are not only objects of study, but also vectors of memory, transmission, inclusion, and sometimes also resistance. The revitalization of marginalized languages, the digital processing of corpora, digital humanities and artificial intelligence are all at the heart of our current research practices.
These themes intersect with major contemporary geopolitical issues: conflicts, migrations, civilizational narratives, strategies of influence. They illustrate the ability of research conducted at Inalco to shed light on the world from fields, languages and perspectives that are often minoritized.
An impetus for the future
The Assises are not a point of arrival but a point of departure. They laid the groundwork for a scientific policy that is clearer, more structured and more open to the challenges of our time: open science, research ethics, digital transition, valorization of knowledge, recognition of the diversity of formats and career paths.
The results of the Assises de la recherche are now online. It sheds light on the directions discussed and the prospects for the future. It is the reflection of a collective dynamic and a shared reflection, We invite you to discover it.
