The conference aims to present the main stages of the history of the establishment, from the creation of the Special School of Oriental Languages during the Revolution, in 1795, to its relocation at the PLC on the site of the Grands Moulins in 2011. The main milestones of its history will be emphasized by the global, political and cultural context, and by dwelling on the places and the remarkable figures who have set foot on the soil of Inalco.

Conference in English by Emmanuel Lozerand, Professor of Japanese Language and Literature at Inalco

The aim of the conference is to outline the history of the establishment, from the creation of the Ecole spéciale des langues orientales under the Revolution, in 1795, to its move to the PLC on the Grands Moulins site in 2011. The main milestones will be marked by placing this history in a global, political and cultural context, and focusing on the places and remarkable personalities who have trodden Inalco's soil.
