The Inalco Foundation opens a new phase in its "Explorers" project by continuing its collaboration with Eric Dugelay, a travel writer and Inalco graduate in Chinese studies, also known by his pen name Tanguy Piole. After "Billets du hasard - Entre Maputo et Kigali", the story of an African journey from Mozambique to Rwanda in September 2023, Eric Dugelay invites you to follow his adventures in a second series entitled "Quête arctique - Douze billets de voyage du Grand Nord canadien".

This series will focus on the cultures, languages and civilizations of the American Arctic. Sometimes less well known than some traditionally taught Eastern languages, the deeply dialectal languages of Nunavut and Canada's Far North are taught in inalco's Languages and Cultures of the Americas section headed by Marc-Antoine Mahieu, a tenured teacher-researcher in Inuktitut, particularly Nunavik Inuktitut.

From November onwards, Éric Dugelay's stories and photographs will be published twice a week by the inalco Foundation on social networks, enabling readers to follow his discoveries and adventures on a regular basis.

Eric Dugelay, after devoting thirty-five years to the corporate world, has chosen to devote himself fully to his passion for writing, travel and photography. Drawing on his experience and expertise, he will share his thoughts, impressions and captivating photos from past and future travels.

Eric Dugelay's journey will start in Montreal and take him to Churchill, Manitoba, the "Polar Bear Capital of the World", and Rankin Inlet, Nunavut. Some of his posts will also be inspired by the author's three previous trips to Canada's Far North.
