"Penser ailleurs: retour aux sources"

The Espace Andrée Chedid is a Ville d'Issy-les-Moulineaux facility managed by the CLAVIM association (Cultures, Loisirs, Animations de la Ville d'Issy-les-Moulineaux). It resolutely asserts itself as a place for the mixing of knowledge and disciplinary fields, a space of possibilities at the service of family dialogue and transmission between generations.

So for its 2023/2024 cultural season, the Espace André Chedid is organizing a cycle of lectures on philosophies from elsewhere with a first part entitled: "Penser ailleurs: retour aux sources ". The lectures in this first part will be led by five eminent speakers proposed by the Inalco Foundation:

  • 29/09/23: Zhuangzi (4th c BC): Prof. Romain Graziani
  • 20/10 /23: Nagarjuna (2/3rd century): Prof. Stéphane Arguillère
  • 17/11/23: Avicenne (980-1037): Prof. Meryem Sebti
  • 08/12/23: Maimonides (1138-1204): Prof. Alessandro Guetta
  • 12/15/23: Master Dōgen (1200-1253): Prof. Frédéric Girard

The second part of the cycle, entitled "Thinking elsewhere: and today", will take place from January to May 2024.

The partnership between the Inalco Foundation and the town of Issy les Moulineaux

On April 14, 2022, the Inalco Foundation signed a partnership agreement with the town of Issy-les-Moulineaux and CLAVIM. This signing - the first with a local authority for the Foundation - marks a tremendous opportunity for the City of Issy-les-Moulineaux, CLAVIM and Inalco to foster the dissemination of Oriental languages and civilizations in areas such asyouth, culture and international relations.

The City of Issy-les-Moulineaux maintains privileged relations with several Oriental cultures and countries, notably with Japan. Indeed, the town's Mayor, Mr. André Santini, also a former minister and member of parliament, happens to be a alumnus of Japanese from Inalco.
