The Foundation was inaugurated on June 16, 2022 at 2, rue de Lille, Inalco's historic site and current headquarters, under the high patronage of the Ministry of Higher Education and Research and its Minister, Ms. Sylvie Retailleau.

This evening was an opportunity to bring together diplomatic representations and alumni of Inalco, as well as supporters of the Foundation for an evening punctuated by the resounding beats of Japanese taikos and traditional music from four geographical areas represented at Inalco (Indonesia, Armenia, India and Senegal).

Among the institutions represented, we were pleased to welcome the Ministry of Higher Education and Research, the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, as well as the town hall of the city of Issy-les-Moulineaux and the town hall of the 7th arrondissement of Paris, but also numerous diplomatic delegations starting with representatives from the embassies of Japan, Korea, Armenia, Burkina Faso, the Czech Republic, Tajikistan, Ukraine, the United Arab Emirates and the Taipei representative office.

Our partners have also kindly joined us. Our special thanks go to the representatives of the Fondation de Rothschild, the Institut national du patrimoine (Inp), the Fondation Maison des sciences de l'homme (FMSH), the Institut français d'Afghanistan (IFA), the Délégation archéologique française en Afghanistan (DAFA), and the Musée national des arts asiatiques Guimet.

Finally, we are delighted to have been able to count on the presence of members of the Académie des Inscriptions et Belles-Lettres, as well as representatives from the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, the Maison de la culture du Japon in Paris, the Institut du monde arabe, the Institut français d'islamologie (IFI), the Fondation de l'Islam de France (FIF) and the Musée Cernuschi, with whom multiple collaborations are bound to emerge.

We are delighted to have been able, for one evening, to offer our guests a journey through the history of Langues O' and its geographical areas.

Thank you all for your presence by our side at this important moment. It represents a tremendous encouragement for our young Foundation and a mark of confidence that honors us.

About the Inalco Foundation

It is to support its development that Inalco has endowed itself with a Foundation. Officially created on October 1, 2021, its Board of Directors brings together 14 members, representatives of Inalco and the academic world, administration and the private sector, with varied and complementary backgrounds, each benefiting from major experience in one of the Inalco Foundation's fields of action.

The Foundation is at the exclusive service of the Institute. As such, its fields of action are in line with the Institute's missions, and revolve around three axes: teaching, research and society. Since its creation, the Foundation has already supported some fifteen projects.
