First steps in foreign language acquisition

In March 2016, an international study day entitled "Early stages in foreign language acquisition: dialogue between acquisition and language didactics" was held at Inalco. The aim of this study day was to create the conditions for a dialogue between two related disciplines, those of foreign language acquisition and foreign language didactics.

To achieve this, we took the decision to orient the interventions and debates around a delimited subject common to all participants, that of the first stages in foreign language acquisition. Our speakers were invited to react to a common reference text, based on some of the results of the VILLA research project, and to present their conceptions according to their personal scientific orientations. The present volume is the result of these interactions.
