We are pleased to announce an international colloquium to be held in Istanbul, Turkey, on Thursday, May 14 and Friday, May 15, 2026.

In partnership with Istanbul Universities and the Institut Français d'Études Anatoliennes (IFEA), this colloquium will be organized by the CERMOM (Centre d'Etudes et de Recherche Moyen-Orient, Méditerranée, EA 4091), and PLIDAM (Pluralité des Langues et des Identités : Didactique - Acquisition - Médiations, EA 4514) of the Institut national des langues et civilisations orientales (INALCO), whose pedagogical and scientific expertise, unique in the world, is strengthened by trans-area and interdisciplinary collaborations.

Placed under the scientific responsibility of Joël Bellassen (PLIDAM) and Michel Bozdémir (CERMOM), our symposium aims to deepen reflection on the trajectories of teachers of foreign languages/civilizations, their social and professional status, while taking into account the conditions of practicing their profession in a constantly evolving global and digital environment.

Colloquium languages: French, English, Turkish Contributions reflecting the diversity of linguistic and cultural areas are strongly encouraged.

Presentations should be submitted by September 30, 2025 to:

They should include:

- a 250-word abstract (excluding bibliography);

- a brief biography of the author, including contact details: institution of affiliation, functions, postal address, email address, telephone.

Practical arrangements for participation and registration, and more precise details of the event, will be communicated at a later date.
