Distance learning Language Diploma in Rromani
Inalco offers an introduction to the Rromani language, several dialects of which are presented in this first-year distance diploma, essentially the dialects of Romania-Hungary and the Balkans. Entry into writing is via the standardized orthography, chosen in 1990 by the Union R(r)omani Internationale congress in Warsaw.
The courses are structured as follows: grammar, oral comprehension, oral expression, written comprehension, and dialectology. The method focuses on everyday communication situations (introductions, meetings, family, spatial orientation, everyday activities, memories...) through dialogues or monologues. The lessons cover basic grammar points for most Central and Eastern European Rromani dialects. At the end of two semesters, students will be able to validate a Rromani language diploma at Licence 1 level.

The courses are designed for absolute beginners. No prior knowledge of the language is therefore required.
This course is designed primarily for people seeking to acquire basic spoken and written Rromani to communicate in everyday life, but who are unable to attend courses in Paris. The student agrees to take the final exam in person. In case of major impossibility, please contact the training manager before registering.
