This signature - the first with a local authority for the Foundation - marks for the Ville d'Issy-les-Moulineaux, the CLAVIM and Inalco a tremendous opportunity to promote the dissemination of Oriental languages and civilizations in areas such as youth, culture and international relations.

The City of Issy-les-Moulineaux indeed maintains privileged relations with several Oriental cultures and countries, notably Japan. Indeed, the town's Mayor, Mr André Santini, also a former minister and MP, happens to be a alumnus of Japanese from Inalco.

In addition to the cooperative ventures and international travel that these exchanges encourage, the city is resolutely committed to promoting an openness to the East.

Firstly, in terms of language, some of the city's secondary schools and five elementary schools offer Chinese language courses, and the downtown media library offers courses in Chinese, Japanese and Korean.

Continuing on the cultural front, we note the special place given to Japan within the ecoquartier Fort d'Issy, following the example of a Japanese garden and a mangathèque with 200 collections, created in conjunction with the Maison de la Culture du Japon in Paris, within the public and associative facility of the Temps des Cerises, a member of the Micro-Folie network supported by La Villette and managed by the CLAVIM association.

On the other hand, the Georges Dumézil cultural center project, supported by the CLAVIM association, will provide a secular reference and resource center designed to enhance understanding of beliefs, spiritualities and religions in a multidisciplinary and artistic approach.

These strong convergences bring together the City of Issy-les-Moulineaux and the Foundation on five main issues:

  • Fostering mobilityfor students from Issy-les-Moulineaux through scholarships
  • Supporting the professional integration of Inalco students
  • Mobilizing Inalco's scientific expertise on the city's projects.
  • Develop the teaching of Oriental languages
  • Promote cultural initiatives, particularly those with an international dimension

The Foundation warmly thanks the Mayor and the municipal team of Issy- les-Moulineaux, and looks forward to working with them.les-Moulineaux and looks forward to future collaborations!
