What "teaching grammars" for language teaching?

Inalco and the GreC network are jointly organizing this colloquium (GreC's 9th), as the issues involved are particularly, but not exclusively, relevant to Inalco, where over a hundred languages are taught. The scope of research and reflection on the contextualization of GreC grammars, hitherto restricted to the teaching of French as a foreign language, has thus been broadened.

In May 2021, Sorbonne Université's Etienne Dolet Translation Prize was awarded to Marie Vrinat-Nikolov, university professor of Bulgarian language and literature and literary translation theory at Inalco, for her translations, her writings on translation and the transmission of this discipline through her teaching.

The aim of this symposium is to promote oral and signed indigenous languages, many of which are undervalued and threatened with extinction. It will discuss the challenges and advances of ongoing work on linguistic description, didactics, language policies and literature in indigenous minority languages in Africa and beyond. On this occasion, the PLIDAM team is launching the 1st edition of the Mashairi ("poetry" in Swahili) poetry competition in African languages.
