Æntrelangues: plurilingualism on the loose

In the wake of the Inalco plurilingual short story competition, aimed at students, This year, the Inalco is launching the first edition of Æntrelangues, a multilingual creative writing competition open to students in grades 4 to 12. By associating writing in French with plurilingualism and the imaginary, this competition aims to give students confidence and enable them to value their creativity and the languages they speak and that speak to them.

Participating schools will receive a teaching pack to lead plurilingual writing workshops, and online training courses will be offered to support teachers in the adventure of creative writing.

A webinar offering you an immersion into the world of the competition will take place on November 12 from 3:30 to 5:00 pm. The challenges of plurilingualism based on literature, or the teaching posture needed to support students in this process, will be among the topics addressed.

Les Déchiffreurs de Langues: discovering unknown linguistic systems

For the third year running, Inalco is organizing Les Déchiffreurs de Langues, a team-based linguistics competition for high school students. A cross between the Olympiades de Linguistique and the Kangourou des Mathématiques competition, this educational competition aims to help students discover linguistic facts, as well as unknown languages and scripts, through logic and observation. The questions, devised in conjunction with linguistics researchers, are accompanied by clues to enable all students to move forward, reflect, and find meaning in their participation in the competition.

A free, festive linguistic adventure

These two competitions, organized as part of la Cordée "Langues et Cultures du Monde" offer students the chance to open up to new languages and knowledge, while developing their creativity. Participation in both competitions is free and open to all secondary school students. Prize-giving ceremonies will be held at Inalco in May to celebrate the winners and finalists, in a convivial atmosphere. Winners will be chosen at each school level, to reward student participation.
