Inalco's student life master plan: results and key figures

Last March, the Student Success and Student Life department launched a project to draw up a Student Life Master Plan. The result of joint reflection with students, it will be implemented in January 2023. Here's an update on this participative process.

On July 23, 1952, the Free Officers took power in Egypt. Between August 1953 and January 1954, Gamal Abdel Nasser wrote three newspaper articles entitled The Philosophy of the Revolution. In them, he asserted that the army's movement was not a coup d'état but a revolution.

Study day "New representations of exile (Maghreb, Mashreq)", September 13

This one-day workshop will look at the new forms of displacement in the world today. Often, these displacements take the form of forced exile. Using a multidisciplinary approach to better understand the exile in his or her host culture(s), it will also examine new forms of literary and artistic expression by exiled authors.

Celebration of the 1st World Kiswahili Day

On July 7, Odile Racine, professor of Swahili at Inalco, was invited to Unesco headquarters in Paris to take part in the first World Kiswahili Language Day. Under the theme "Kiswahili for peace and prosperity", the day was celebrated in several East African states and universities around the world.

International symposium "The world of Gabriela Zapolska, cultural transfers and the women's question at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries", September 27-28

This symposium dedicated to Gabriela Zapolska is the fruit of collaboration between several Polish, French (Inalco) and Ukrainian university centers. It is the second part of a cycle of three meetings entitled "Gabriela Zapolska, on the occasion of the centenary of the death of the author of "La Morale de Madame Dulska"", which began in 2021.

What do migrations do to languages and languages do to migrations? In the migrant reception crisis that has shaken Europe since 2015, languages are the great forgotten of public policies. Yet in the territories of asylum, dozens of languages meet and cross at borders. Is it then a great misunderstanding or a language of migration that emerges in these territories of Babel? A lingua franca or, conversely, a lingua non grata?
