The 14th ISOLA (International Society for the Oral Literatures of Africa) symposium "Humains et non-humains dans les arts de la parole en Afrique. Environmental narrativities and poetics at the dawn of the climate crisis" will be held at Inalco. Its aim is to investigate the ecological theme, at the forefront of scientific and social demand, in oral literature in Africa and its diaspora, from the perspective of several approaches that place the relationship between the spoken word and the environment at the center of research.

On June 6, the Foundation held its seventh Board Meeting at the BNF's Richelieu site, recently reopened after more than ten years of renovation. The event marked a return to our roots in this building, which in 1795 was the historic birthplace of Inalco.

The Inalco Foundation has launched an exciting and captivating project for lovers of travel and cultural discovery: Explorers. The aim of this innovative project is to revive the tradition of travel writing by the great explorers of the "O" languages in a resolutely contemporary way. For this first adventure, the Foundation asked travel writer Eric Dugelay, a graduate of Inalco with a degree in Chinese, also known by his pen name Tanguy Piole, to relay his travel experience on Swahili soil live via a "travel blog" accompanied by superb photographs.

The jury of the 32nd annual Observatoire national de la vie étudiante (OVE) awards its doctoral prize (Prix Louis Gruel) and its Master 2023 prize. It also awarded a special mention to the M2 dissertation by Alexis Ogor (Université Paris Cité) on the social and academic trajectories of Arabic students at Inalco. In so doing, it underscored the quality and originality of his research carried out within Inalco's Department of Arabic Studies.

The Académie des Inscriptions et Belles-Lettres (AIBL) has awarded the Stanislas Julien Medal to Catherine Despeux for her annotated edition of LU-YU's "Classique du thé" (Les Belles Lettres, 2023), the first major text on tea, published under the Tang in 780.
