Master in Management and International Trade (MCI)
Presentation of the Master in Management and International Trade
The Master's in Management and International Trade organizes over 800 hours of professional teaching focused entirely on careers in large-scale exporting and international economic establishment. It is regularly ranked among France's top 10 Masters in its speciality in the annual rankings by SMBG and was ranked N°1 in MOCI's 2019 Palmarès des M2 universitaires. Why choose our program? Because it's the only one to combine a high degree of international business skills with linguistic and economic expertise in markets reputed to be difficult to access.
Each Master's class is made up of 30-35 students with different languages of access. Most courses form a common core. Students then divide into language courses or specialized seminars on the economy of their area according to their access language, or into options according to their choice.
At the end of the Master 1 and Master 2 courses, students undertake a compulsory internship lasting between 3 and 6 months, enabling them to put into practice the theoretical and linguistic knowledge and cross-disciplinary skills acquired during the year, and to take their first steps in a professional sector. Since 2010, the M2 program has been open to work-study apprenticeships, with the support of CFA FORMASUP: in Master 2, the compulsory internship can be replaced by a full work-study program.
Our Master's program is regularly ranked among the best Master's programs in international business by SMBG. In 2023 it was ranked 14th out of 20 courses. See the link below for our latest ranking.

Advice on finding a work-study company
Advice on finding a work-study company
Company search
Use databases and websites listing the companies that interest you. Read the specialized trade press (Le MOCI, Classe Export, Les Echos, La Tribune, etc.). Take advantage of trade shows and events open to the public to meet companies and present your project. Use your network of friends, acquaintances and family to get the word out about your project as early as possible. Leave your contact details. Find out about dynamic companies in the countries that interest you by listening to the radio and reading the press, both general and specialized, national and local. Rank these interesting companies in order of priority.
Before the company interview
Find out about the company: website, director, workforce, strategies, existing locations, projects. Adapt your resume and cover letter to your interviewer. Put yourself in the recruiter's shoes: what are their needs? How can you meet them? How can Inalco meet them? Think of two or three projects that you could submit to the company for the start of the work-study program in September. Offer these projects for criticism and advice from those around you.
After the interview with the company
Keep a written record of the interview: conditions, impressions, points that interested the recruiter, points to work on for future occasions...If you don't receive immediate feedback, don't hesitate to follow up with your contact a few days later to find out more about his or her assessment of the interview. Keep your Inalco contact informed of your progress.

Fahad SIRADJI KANE - Trade Finance Officer BNP Paris
Graduated from the Master MCI - Haoussa in 2020
Graduated from the Master de Management et Commerce International de l'Inalco in 2020, I opted for the banking-finance track in the 2nd year of the master. Originally from Niger and Nigeria, I turned to the economic issues (political and country risks) of the Africa and Middle East zone offered by this master's program. I'm currently a Trade Finance Officer in BNP PARIBAS CIB's international guarantees department. The finance-banking course prepared me to move quickly into the field of international trade operations and financing in banking. Having had the opportunity to meet a number of people from other backgrounds, it's rare to find a Master's degree like Inalco's MCI that sets out and gives you the tools you need to become operational in trade finance. In addition, the diverse environment of this master's degree (languages and civilizations) enables us to grasp the cultures of others in the context of internationally-oriented professions. Thanks to the richness of this training and the skills acquired, particularly during the work-study year, several job opportunities opened up for a large part of my graduating class, including me. And that was even before I graduated".
Jonathan Samuel HAYAT - Senior Trade Manager BNP PARIBAS
Graduated from the Master MCI - Hebrew in 2016
Inalco enabled me to enter the professional world directly thanks to courses focusing on corporate and international trade taught by business experts. My internship at Bred followed by my work-study placement at Natixis were only possible thanks to my teachers' networks. Today, I support BNP PARIBAS' SME customers in their international transactions: securing imports and exports, financing, setting up abroad, advising on local regulations, expertise in Trade Finance products... English, Spanish, Hebrew and Russian have given me even more confidence in my new position.
Kevina MBONYINSHUTI, Business Intelligence Analyst on a sandwich course at Business France
Graduated from the Master MCI - Chinese in 2020
I did all my university training in the International Commerce stream at Inalco and in the Chinese Studies Department, as the course offered dual training in language and civilization on the one hand and international business on the other. The quality and plurality of the subjects taught, and their complementarity with the language studied, have enabled me to broaden my professional horizons. Thanks to the dual expertise I developed during my Master's in Management and International Trade, I was able to land a job with Business France as a business intelligence officer for the Chinese market, as part of a work-study contract in M2. This experience fascinated me, so much so that I decided to deepen my knowledge in this specific field. I'm currently taking a course in business intelligence, where I've already acquired most of what I need to know. I believe in the excellence and richness of international business studies at Inalco. And I believe that every student graduating from this program has all the tools to be an important player in his or her ecosystem.
Liubov Trebushkova - Digital Marketing Consultant
Graduate of the Master MCI - Russian 2019
I entered the program thanks to the CILO diploma (Diplôme d'Etablissement de Commerce International) and, then, I continued my course with the Master's degree (Marketing and International Development course).
This program enabled me to acquire highly sought-after skills (market research, economic analysis, marketing strategy, notions of law, management), as well as develop soft skills (open-mindedness, adaptability, teamwork, making presentations and knowing how to speak in front of an audience, etc.).
As part of the CILO diploma and Master's program, I had the opportunity to do internships. What's more, during my Master 2, I did a work-study placement in Johnson & Johnson's marketing department, where I worked on digital projects on an international scale. These professional experiences in parallel with my studies confirmed my interest in the field of digital marketing and helped me to easily find a permanent contract after graduating.
Robin NGUYEN, Trade Finance Manager at Banque Palatine
Graduate of the Master MCI - Vietnamese 2020
Passionate about Vietnam and wanting to make my interculturality an asset in my professional life, studying at Inalco was an obvious choice.
After a degree in Vietnamese with a focus on international trade, I joined the Master MCI. As a high-level judoka, I greatly appreciated the attitude of the teaching staff towards me. It enabled me to combine my studies with my sporting career. I really benefited from this master's degree, and the year of work-study I did at Banque Populaire Rives de Paris enabled me to learn a trade very quickly, to make a large number of contacts and, above all, to find a job as soon as I finished my studies.
I am currently a trade finance manager at Banque Palatine. Thanks to the MCI Master's degree, I now have all the keys I need to realize my project. I'm planning to set up in Vietnam and develop my international trade consulting business. My years of study in the Master MCI program will then take on their full meaning.
Anne-Sophie Cluzel, Export Sales and Marketing Manager - Cilas
Completed Master CI - Chinese 2015
Having been lucky enough to live in North-East Asia when I was younger, I've always been passionate about this part of the world, and started learning Chinese in high school. Enthusiastic about this teaching, I chose to take a bachelor's degree in Applied Foreign Languages (LEA) English-Chinese at the Sorbonne-Nouvelle (Paris III), of which I was able to spend my third year in Beijing. On my return to France, I was seduced by the program offered by Inalco's Master of International Business: a very skilful and comprehensive course that combines mastery of a language applied to concrete sectors of the economy. In M1, I was able to work part-time as a Chinese language teacher in a high school, then during my M2, which was specially designed to be done on a sandwich course, I joined an economic intelligence unit at Airbus Group, in order to establish a watch to which I brought real linguistic added value.
My position at Airbus extended beyond the sandwich course, and I was able to evolve for over 3 years in different functions within the group. Seeking to broaden my professional scope to more operational functions to complement my experience as an analyst, I then joined CILAS, an Ariane Group subsidiary and expert in lasers for space and defense, where I held the position of sales and marketing manager for exports, enthusiastically covering my favorite zone: Asia.
I have no hesitation in recommending Inalco's International Trade course, which I've been so pleased with, as it takes us forward intellectually and very concretely towards professional functions, and enables us to meet passionate professionals who come to teach but above all pass on their trade to us. One example among many: we were all impressed by the regular talks given by the Conseillers du Commerce Extérieur de la France (CCEF). In fact, it was in this context that I took part in the competition organized by the CCEF during my Master's 2 course, and won their International Prize - a great opportunity which also enabled me to expand my network and consolidate the beginnings of my professional career in the vast aerospace/defense sector.
I wish Inalco and the courses it offers every success in the future, and I continue to follow them closely as I am also a member of the Board of Directors of the Inalco Foundation.
I'm looking forward to working with them in the future.
